Tight and Bright OS 4x12 is a collection of 51 impulse responses captured using one of my absolute favorite V30s in an "Oversized" and angled 4x12 cabinet. This specific 70W Vintage 30 speaker (T4335) made OEM for Mesa/Boogie™ is from the early/mid 2000s and features a particularly tight and bright quality to its sound.
While this speaker doesn't move an enormous amount of low end, the bass response is incredibly tight, focused, and ready to slide into a modern metal mix. I reach for this particular speaker in cases of:
Very low tunings where pick attack and note definition can be challenging to retain
The following microphones were used, running through Avedis™ MA5 and Chandler™ TG2 preamps:
Shure™ SM57 dynamic
Shure™ Unidyne III SM57 dynamic
Beyerdynamic™ M201N dynamic
Sennheiser™ MD421-U4 dynamic
Beyerdynamic™ M160 ribbon
Neumann™ KM184 SDC (new in 1.5)
Royer™ R121 ribbon
(new in 1.5)
Each microphone was placed in 3 sweet spots on both the left and right sides of the cone, in addition to right in center of the cone, in order to capture a more complete spectrum of what the speaker has to offer. The SM57 options include a dual-57 (Fredman) blend. All of the individual IRs are in phase, and can be mixed-and-matched in order to create bespoke blended tones..
Every impulse is provided in 48khz/24bit, 48khz/16bit, 44.1/24bit, and 44.1khz/16bit WAV formats, in both 500ms and 200ms lengths. KIPR files for Kemper Profiling Amps are also included, as well as pre-converted Suhr Reactive Load IR versions of the IRs.
